Kelly Stephens

Kelly Stephens has been a licensed attorney in the State of Texas since 1985. He graduated with a B.S. in Ocean Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1979 and earned his J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 1985. Over the course of his career, he has gained extensive experience in personal injury, business, and intellectual property litigation. He has also played a key role in forming and securing startup financing for several companies.

Before beginning his legal career, Kelly worked as a manufacturing and design engineer in the oil field service industry.

Kelly brings more than 30 years of trial experience to his clients, having conducted more than 30 state and federal jury trials. More than half of his federal trials involved patent infringement matters, including technologies related to oilfield tools, industrial processes, engineering systems, computer hardware and software, and business methods. He has successfully represented both plaintiffs and defendants, with a strong emphasis on commercial disputes and patent jury trials.

Outside the office, Kelly is an avid outdoorsman and spends much of his free time hunting and fishing.

Pro Bono & Community Involvement

Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo
Kelly has volunteered with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for more than 28 years, serving on three committees. His work includes 12 years on the Jr. Swine Auction Committee, where he spent 4 years as a captain and 3 years as a vice-chairman. He has also served 26 years on the Agricultural Mechanics Committee and 6 years on the Commercial Exhibits Committee.

Houston Ducks Unlimited
Kelly served on the committee for the annual Houston Ducks Unlimited Dinner event from 1987 to 2008, including time as dinner chairman and zone chairman in 1994.



Boy Scouts of America
For the past 8 years, Kelly has helped organize and produce the annual Boy Scout Sporting Clays Shoot, supporting programs for inner-city youth in Houston.
