Matt’s legal practice covers all aspects of intellectual property with a particular focus on patent infringement litigation, inter partes review, and patent prosecution. His experience ranges from oilfield tools to electronic technologies such as televisions, cellular phones, microprocessors, memory systems, and digital signal and image processing. He also has experience procuring and enforcing trademarks and copyrights for his clients and assisting his clients with protection of their trade secrets.

Before forming Stephens Juren, PLLC, Matt practiced intellectual property matters for more than 14 years in the DFW IP boutique of Nelson Bumgardner Albritton P.C. and the Houston IP boutiques of Matthews Lawson, PLLC, CEP IP, and Stephens | Domnitz | Meineke, PLLC. During his practice Matt has presented numerous oral arguments to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington D.C. and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board at the USPTO headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia. Matt has also argued as first chair at several patent claim construction hearings.



Matt earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Houston Clear Lake and has an Associate degree in Mathematics. He received his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. Matt is admitted to practice in the State of Texas and the Federal District Courts of Texas and is a registered patent attorney at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
